If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar data protection laws, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data.
For purposes of applicable data protection laws, Fare is the controller of personal data that we process through the website, support communications, account features, analytics, diagnostics, purchases, and other online services we operate.
Some information you enter into the Fare app may be stored only on your device. If information is stored only locally on your device and is not transmitted to Fare, we may not be able to access, correct, export, or delete that information for you. You can manage that local information directly in the app by editing subscriptions, deleting subscriptions, resetting local data, or exporting/importing backup files.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we process personal data only when we have a legal basis to do so.
Depending on how you use Fare, our legal bases may include:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the Service, operate app features you request, process purchases, provide account features, respond to support requests, and maintain your access to Fare.
- Consent: where you choose to enable optional features, receive certain communications, use cookies or analytics where consent is required, or provide information voluntarily.
- Legitimate interests: to maintain, secure, debug, understand, and improve Fare; prevent fraud or misuse; respond to user requests; and operate a reliable website and app, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws, tax obligations, app store requirements, consumer protection rules, legal requests, and regulatory obligations.
- Protection of rights and safety: where processing is necessary to protect users, Fare, or others from harm, fraud, security threats, or unlawful activity.

Local App Data
Fare is designed to be local-first. Many subscription records and app preferences may be stored only on your device.
If data is stored only on your device, Fare may not have a copy of it and may not be able to fulfill access, deletion, correction, or portability requests for that local data from our systems.
You can control local app data directly by:
- editing subscription records
- deleting subscription records
- resetting local app data
- exporting a backup
- importing a backup
- deleting the app from your device
If you export a backup file, you are responsible for protecting that file.
International Transfers
Fare may be operated from the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
If personal data is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country that has not been recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection, we will rely on appropriate safeguards where required by law, such as standard contractual clauses, service provider commitments, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Retention periods may depend on:
- whether you have an account
- whether you contacted support
- whether you made a purchase
- legal, tax, accounting, or compliance requirements
- fraud prevention and security needs
- whether the information is stored only on your device
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, reset local data, uninstall the app, or replace it through an imported backup.
Complaints
If you are located in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your personal data properly, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We encourage you to contact us first at support@usefare.app so we can try to resolve your concern directly.
